FINISHED BASEMENT PLAN

When designing for a Finished Basement Plan, planning is the most important step. Although most basements offer quasi-limitless design possibilities, taking precise measurements and collecting all the necessary data is the first step to ensuring a plan is doable having it turn out with that “WOW” factor too. Transforming a basement isn’t limited to hiding a few pipes, covering the ceilings and painting the walls. Often, there are architectural concerns that need to be addressed prior to any construction being started.

At Basement Finishing Design Services, John Browning has over 35 years of experience in the building trades. Coupled with his extensive artistic background, he is not only proud but delighted to create designs that are both beautiful and structurally sound as well as functional. Since he began as a Home Improvement Specialist business in 1982, he has worked on countless projects–creating not only basement plans for spaces as diverse as home theater rooms, custom wet bars or game rooms but John Browning has designed hundreds of kitchens, additions, sunrooms, baths, new homes and of course so many redesigns of existing older homes.

Basements often offer a number of complicated obstacles when it comes to their renovation. Support post, heating ducts, pipes and I-Beams, for example, are unavoidable issues that cannot simply be knocked over or taken out. Fortunately, through his experience, we have learned to work within the restrictions of a space–often turning them into a design advantage–post can become columns, supporting archways for example. In many cases furnaces and water tanks can be relocated but more so, support post can be moved, taken out and or redesigned in new locations all based on some minor engineering.

When homeowners typically look at their basement, they can rarely see beyond the insulation foam, post, concrete floors & walls and exposed heating ducts and piping. That is why this website includes numerous design pictures by John Browning of many past projects. Not only do these pictures highlight the quality of his work, but more importantly they show the extent of a transformation the right finished basement plan can offer.
